Marlen Receives Service Award for Symposium, IUP

In April, 2010, Marlen Harrison received the President’s Award for Service to the University (IUP) for his work conceiving, co-planning and chairing the first ever symposium on gender and sexuality at Indiana University of Pennsylvania:

“Various critical approaches – scientific, mathematical, literary, historical, political, rhetorical, ethical, philosophical, artistic, etc – can be utilized to examine gender and sexuality.  By creating an environment where professionals and students from the various disciplines can dialogue, we learn from each other and increase our knowledge and competencies. Then the Symposium on Gender and Sexuality is a great place to start, where students, staff and faculty are coming together to present their research and experience on the intersections of these topics.”
